Since its foundation, the Faculty of Education has provided a significant contribution to the field, through its scholarly involvement in projects and initiatives, and by means of its engagement in research and policy making. While the faculty’s commitment to teacher formation is central, it also serves society by offering a wide range of courses in Education, ranging from early childhood to adulthood, at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Through its programmes, aimed at the formation and the continuing professional development of professional and expert educators, the faculty responds to social change which shapes educational contexts. Addressing this change and proposing innovations, based on research and reflection, leads to further growth which the Faculty embraces in order to be of service to the society. This is also achieved by addressing different educational needs, and giving value to them, while focusing on the development of learners by contributing to his/her individual formation. The Faculty of Education is proud of its graduates and students and welcomes all learners, scholars, partners and stakeholders who seek to learn more about its courses, initiatives and projects.

Welcome to the Faculty of Education of Horizon Campus. The faculty was established in 2014 to cater the growing needs of professional programs in education, aiming to provide a strong partnership for the development of education in Sri Lanka. We are very proud to mention that a significant number of our B.Ed. (Hons.) degree holders, are currently serving in the Sri Lankan education system as well as in overseas.
The Faculty of Education has become a multifaceted institute by offering degree programs not only at undergraduate levels but also at postgraduate levels, in collaboration with reputed overseas universities. At present the faculty offers Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Biological Sciences, Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Physical Sciences and Bachelor of Education (Hons) degrees together with Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Master of Education offered in collaboration with Asia e University, Malaysia. Through these programs, students are provided with innovative and intellectually stimulating learning environment for learning, teaching and research.
The faculty has a strong commitment to provide practical experience in teaching to the B.Ed. students. During the four-year degree program, the students get an opportunity to practice teaching in a school for ten weeks under a guidance of a mentor, to obtain hands on teaching experience. Also, students are equipped with relevant knowledge and skills to engage in educational research, covering a diverse range of topics in the field of education.
The Faculty of Education of Horizon Campus is a promising place for undergraduates to earn an academic plus professional degree in education, under well qualified and experienced panel of lecturers, to become skilled professionals in the field of education.
